21 proposals to make the Nordic region a leader in artificial intelligence: We need to step up our game
Business leaders from across the Nordic region have presented their vision for how the region can lead Europe and the world in the use of artificial intelligence.
The Nordic region has all the prerequisites to become one of the world's leading AI regions. Artificial intelligence offers unprecedented opportunities in health, productivity and the green transition. But it requires us to embrace the technology ambitiously and responsibly. Today, things are moving far too slowly.
This was the main conclusion of the first Nordic-Baltic AI Summit held at Christiansborg on August 30 this year. Over 100 business leaders, ministers, researchers and civil society representatives from all the Nordic and Baltic countries gathered to discuss the way forward for artificial intelligence. Participants included Netcompany, TDC, Telenor, Ikea, DSV, Microsoft, Finansforbundet, Ericsson and the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
The outcome of the summit is now available in the form of a 'Nordic Vision for AI' accompanied by 21 concrete recommendations that put action behind the words. They have been drawn up by business organizations from across the Nordic region led by Digital Dogme, DI Digital and the ADD project. The coalition proposes, among other things, a new Nordic Center for AI, a significant boost to AI skills, and joint Nordic-Baltic pressure on the EU to strengthen European competitiveness.
The proposals were handed over to the Nordic ministers for digitalization at a meeting of the Nordic Council of Ministers in Stockholm on 8 November.
